Do About Pages Need Subpages?

Right now; I’m experimenting if an about page for your website need subpages. I’ve been working with my about page on my multisite. Well, about pages can be as long as a book with chapters. For example; you were telling a history about your website what you’re still developing. Whether if you were just building a blogging platform… or you were just writing fictional stories from scratch, having subpages for your about page can be useful if you want to keep relevant information sorted. This is useful if you were just building a static website with posts as a blog section..

If you wanted to have more information on your about page on your site, and make it easier for some of your visitors to read your content. You can implement subpages that will be linked from your main about page. For example; you wanted to create a history page for your about page. This is useful if you wanted to keep a cluster of pages that will help you arrange content. In common; about pages don’t have a subpage on most sites.

If you created a new page. It’s a top level page, but you can choose a parent page that will be used to associate a page with an about page. If you have these pages with long content… that can offset loading time on your server; and reduce loading time on browsers. You can also link headings to your subpages,–making it look like you are writing a book, or enabling users to jump through each link to read your information that is linked from your about page.

If you have lots of pages with unique information; and you had a large main page; this is useful to divide your work like a set of folders for your files. However; your pages will reach the max limit,–depending on your hosting provider who runs your server.

To create subpages for your about page; follow these steps below:

  1. Log into your WordPress dashboard, and create a new page.
  2. Write your desired content.
  3. Set your page as a child page of your about page. Be sure to save work often.
  4. Publish your page.
  5. Copy the URL at the address bar, and go to your about page.
  6. At the about page… edit it, and link a heading to your newly created page. Be sure to link it properly. Always place a link tag inside the heading tags.
  7. Update your page.

Now, you had a subpage for your about page of your website. This is useful if you wanted to reduce your page size of your site. You can do this to any of your pages too! If you have lots of subpages that are packed with your content; you will have a cluster of pages like a static site.

Why subpages for your about page? This is useful if you wanted to provide extra information about your website. If you had a dedicated support website for your entire multisite… you can enable users to get help with your website without dealing with high numbers of email delivered to you online. Most about pages has at least 1 link to a support site.

If you attempted to write a superlong about page; your webpage will take too much effort to load on your browser. That can also tke up your memory on your computer. And your server’s resources will be used up.
