TalkBack Screen-Reader Only Register 1830 Words When Editing Large Text Fields & Online Text-Editing Programs? Watch Out! There’s A BuG What You May Encounter

So, you use your android device like a 2-in-one android laptop, you are a skilled writer who write extremely long post on your blog,–just like I do! I usually experiment with screen-readers that may have flaws what you’ve never encountered before. Recently, I’ve stumbled upon a flaw what you’ve never heard of before. And I’ll share it to you!

The flaws what I’ve encountered

So you activated the textarea to edit your long blog post via WordPress or Blogger, you confirmed you are at the end of the text field, but you’re actually not at the end of the field. That applies to text fields over 1830 words long. If your post has over 2000 words, and you encountered your screen-reader misregistering the very end of the text field; this is a bug that can strike, and you may encounter a problem as you try to edit your post with voice feedback.

To reproduce a problem:

  1. Open your blog what you’re about to edit.
  2. Create a new post, and write over 1830 words.
  3. Varify if you can still hear what you’re actually typing on your post.

If you didn’t hear any output of a speech, even if you are going to the end of the post, most likely TalkBack appears to be broken, or it may needs to be updated.

If you can try reaching the end of the field by using the volume keys, but it played a sound,–indicating you are at the end of the field, most likely, there’s a bug. you can go around this issue by using a connected keyboard. Just press the down arrow key, or type Ctrl+End to reach the bottom of a text field.

If no feedback has been registered, you can send feedback to developers to report an issue.

As a work-around; use a different computer like a Chromebook.

Experiments what I’ve done

I’ve experimented with writing a long post, and I reached up to 1800 words, and managed to reach 1850 words. What I’ve discovered, the rest of the typed text after 1850 words will not register. There’s something wrong with TalkBack itself. I tried other browsers, and it still has a same issue.

I believe there’s a bug that caused a limitation to TalkBack itself.
