[FAQ] Can I Only Publish My Books To Public Libraries Via Draft2Digital?

Although; if you are a small publisher, or you are a big publishing company who self-publish on Draft2Digital, and you choose to distribute to public libraries as an ethical option. People who traditionally buy books from an online retailer for ebooks may fall, and libraries may rise. However; not ALL books can go to public libraries as you publish your books. If you publish erotica, don’t use public libraries as your targets, use subscription platforms instead.

If you only publish to public libraries as a self-publisher

If you only self-publish books and distribute them to public libraries, not just the poor will benefit from borrowing books electronically for ebooks, or phisically books via physical copies. A public library usually purchase books,–when requested by patrons. This is necessary to help the poor explore content what they want to read at home, or on the go.

When you publish a book, and distribute to public libraries, you will get the followijng benefits:

A steady stream of revenue

If you got a custom to publishing books and distributing to public libraries, and you published over 200 books in your lifetime, you can get a steady stream of revenue, and you don’t need to worry about unauthorized downloads, piracy, and even problems with online ebook sellers who often cause these issues with small publishers, but favor big publishers.

The more books published and distributed to public libraries, the better the consumers will find your book. That will also help libraries be popular for the poor, and help reduce the burden of using credit/debit cards. Typically, public libraries are either supported by donors, or taxes what you pay.

If you have 100 self-publishers, and they choose to distribute to public libraries, these books from small publishers will be everywhere, enabling competition to rely on public libraries around the world. However; public libraries need to purchase your ebooks, or physical books to fill their shelves. Also, library servers will be teaming with books to borrow, and it will be easier for patrons to borrow books without needing to pay and pay!

Slow revenue means, slow growth for your publishing business, and your work what you and your company can create and innovate overtime.

Although; book borrows can be useful to help others explore your content, and ethically gain more readers around the world. Also, public libraries will someday displace online ebook vendors altogether.

Benefit public libraries

The more people visit public libraries, the better! That will also help small town get more visitors who are trying to find a public library that is available. Also, mobile libraries will be able to provide services to small towns.

Also, if you are a person who write mystery fiction, and other works (without erotica and profanity), you can attrack more readers.

Overtime, you help a public library grow, and you can help communities grow too!

The greater use of public libraries, the greater the library keeps its doors open.

Public libraries will expand, and more books will be available to read.

Library cards will be used by 51%. Less swiping of credit cards, and less handing over of your cash; your library will do all of that heavy lifting for you. And you don’t need to purchase ebooks for your ereader, just use it with your public library.

However; libraries can sell physical books (only when necessary). This is necessary to free up inventory, or raise money for improving a library itself.

Also, other library services will benefit from self-published authors who distribute their ebooks.

Reduce server overloads via online vendors

Storing, and managing accounts on each server can be a challenge for many store operators. With public libraries; that can also help servers use less energy, and store less accounts. The less accounts, the better for a store. So you can have an easy to manage group of users.

What’s mentioned earlier; piracy is reduced, and servers can use security software with ease and piece of mind.

Vendors can easily rest, and reduce costs of managing servers and software used for security and other essentials.

Vendors get more money in their pockets.

Authors can benefit from zero reliance of these traditional vendors who only vend to customers. However;they rely on library vendors.

Gives vendors an opportunity to have spare money to maintain their servers.

Online vendors will have erotic ebooks being sold, and someday, these traditional online ebook stores will evolve, or remarket to other customers.

My Thoughts

My thoughts of only distributing to public libraries is like tearing down a wall that is not allowing people to see my garden, or opening up an amusement park with zero payment per entry.

Let’s pretend an amusement park with zero payments per entry is a public library, and a walled garden is a traditional ebook vendor.

With an amusement park with zero payment entry; you can get a diverse collection of amusement rides. However; you use tickets what you bought to ride a ride, or get yourself a lunch or dinner. However; with a walled garden, you must pay in order to ride rides at this amusement park.

My another thought of choosing a public library is like removing cars off the road, and taking a streetcar to go places. With a streetcar; you just pay fares to go places with 1 trip, or more; however; with driving a car; you need to pay for gas, inspections, insurance, fluids, oil for your engine, tires, engines, and more. If your vehicle breaks down, your vehicle needs to be repaired by a mechanic. With taking a streetcar to go places, you don’t need to do all of this; a company operates a streetcar, and does all of that heavy lifting for you. No need to learn parts of a vehicle, and you don’t need to learn to drive, but a person must operate a streetcar to go places, or an automated streetcar must rely on computers to run, and a central operator must manage a fleet of streetcars.

My another thought of choosing a public library for my books to be distributed to is like riding a dog (dogback ride) over using a leash. With riding on my large dog, I can conserve energy, and I don’t need to learn how to use a leash. However; leash laws ensures safety for people and our dogs are prevalent. However; dog manure can be turned into renewable fuel to replace coal and other fossil fuels. With walking a dog with a leash; you need to use as much commands. And you need to keep up with your dog. However; this is one example of relying on a traditional ebook vendor.

My another thought of choosing a public library for my books is kind of like planting trees over planting lawn seeds. With planting trees, you cool down the planet, and you don’t need to use a lawn mower, and you don’t need to fuel up your mower each week,–depending on how its used. With planting lawn, you need to mow your lawn on a daily basis. Pollution from your gas engine can turn up temperature on our planet, causing climate change to worsen.

My final thought of choosing a public library is like choosing to raising rabbits as companion animals. With raising rabbits as companion animals; its easier for communities who own rabbits as pets (including large rabbits, and even let them roam with a free range. With traditional ebook vendors, you raise rabbits as a meat source, and you need to own a slaughterhouse in order to produce meat to eat.
