Okay, you upgraded to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, and you are famimiar with finding your browser like FireFox, a browser that comes with most Linux distributions. Most likely you can’t find a browser via your activities menu or launcher.
FireFox is now a snap version of a browser that comes with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
FireFox Has Evolved To A Snap Version For Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
FireFox used to be a traditional deb application package. With a newer version of Ubuntu; snap application is a default type. That means; this browser is NOT listed like usual. And it may be difficult to find it on your launcher.
Also, this browser is still the same, but it may have a slight delay when launching your browser like usual.
Try Setting A Keyboard Shortcut
If you were using Ubuntu 22.04 LTS; follow these following instructions:
- Go to your settings application.
- Go to keyboard, and choose keyboard shortcuts.
- Choose “Launchers” to access keyboard shortcuts list.
- For launching a browser; set “Ctrl-T” as your default command to open a browser.
- Save this keyboard shortcut.
- Close your settings application by pressing Alt-F4.
Now, press Ctrl-T to confirm if your browser will open. If it does; you are ready to browse on the internet, or in some cases; develop your games like usual.
Use The Run Box
Type Alt-F2.
type “firefox” without any quotation marks and press enter.
This is useful for typing instant commands via keyboard,–if you are using a keyboard as your preferred way of computing.
Use A Terminal
If you are using Xubuntu desktop, or XFCE desktop; you may need to open your terminal by typing Ctrl-Alt-T.
Or in some cases; you use a computer without using a graphical interface; a command line terminal may be suitable when you use a computer via a vintage style of computing.
At the terminal; type “firefox” without any quotation marks; and then press enter.
Final Thoughts
Now, I taught you how to open FireFox on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. However; you may need to get used to these methods what I’ve experimented on my Ubuntu machine.
From Ubuntu 20.04 LTS; finding this browser is easy via finding these programs via a launcher. Although; Ubuntu is evolving, but setting up keyboard shortcuts to open your browser makes it easier.
Despite owning a Chromebook; I made my Linux laptop or desktop behave the same way, but FireFox is a primary browser.
You can set this command via your computers what you own at your business environment.
That saves time when you find your browser when you get used to Ubuntu as your daily driver.
