Unfortunately, 5to20… a prison blog is no longer online!

Recently, I was checking on a prison blog, 5to 20. What I’ve discovered, a blog is no longer available on the internet. Well, that leads me to a question, or a set of questions:

  • Why 5to20 is no longer there?
  • Why did this website disappeared?
  • What ever happened to a blogger who is maintaining a blog serving prison time?

Maybe a prison blogger who runs 5to20.net hasn’t got any help from his friends and family by helping him renew his domain, and keep his website in good standing. He wrote about his experience in prison, along with his life as a sex offender. He did had a story about his addiction to pornography. In some years in the future, he will be released from prison, but his internet usage may be restricted for the rest of his life, and he has to register as a sex offender.

Okay, if you don’t know what 5to20 is, it was a prison blog owned by an inmate who relies on wordpress.com, a primary host who hosts a website for him while he’s behind bars. He also has his twitter account. However, his Twitter account may be closed because, of Twitter’s policies, or something.
Although; prison blogs do be pulled offline, but it doesn’t make an end of a road for these inmates. When inmates are released from prison, they have to restart their lives from scratch. Not all prisons are the same.
If you think this website has it’s own server… think again! This website is hosted by a free version of WordPress. Most prison blogs rely on free blogging platforms like Blogger, and other free blogging platforms.

Interesting Facts About This Blog

This blog has been a subject of inspiration via Fairies Dreams & Fantasy,–after a 2015 launch. That’s the time when our new website is just a baby! However; 5to20 was older than this website itself. That’s the time when my Acer C7 Chromebook was only 2 years old. It was maintained earlier, until it was gone today.
This blog is like an online prison journal what he authors on his website. Inmates do have an access to a computer at some certain prisons.
Typically, blogs are created via an outside world. Like a journal, you write content. Posts are like digital pages of your book. You publish it on a regular basis.
Although; 5to20 was a good blog, enabling the outside world to see his work posted in prison.
Today, this blog can be remembered forever.

Why I was inspired

It was a story what this blogger has told behind bars, and I think prison bloggers should be treated equally, just like other bloggers. Unfortunately, I’m aren’t able to support his blog because, his site has no way to contact a prison blogger.
This blog was a work of art, like visiting a digital inmate in prison.
Although; sex offenders on the internet have rights, just like we do, and they often own blogs, or social media accounts. There are some regulations in the US, or around the world that infringe the rights of a sex offender who use the internet for online shopping, email, and other uses.
However; what I like about his blog, is his stories. He was a great writer who brings what’s behind bars to light.
Almost all of his posts are written with true facts, even his about page.
This inmate has came up with a different approach of running his website and owning his domain, and tweeting on Twitter. Unfortunately comments has been disabled on his website. It was disabled to prevent minors from communicating with him. And that’s a major drawback when visiting his site. At least he did some blogging for some years!

The apreciation

This prison blog is like reading a book. Just like reading other digital content. And I like his work of his art. Some inmates do have talents like other people. Not all inmates have a same talent. Some inmates write music, ride bulls in a prison rodeos, and more. Even former inmates can code software for businesses. Vybz Kartel is a known Jamaican artist who has talent behind bars while he serves life in prison. There are other prisoners who have other forms of talents.
Not all of his posts are inspirational, but I managed to visualize what does a prison really looks like while he’s behind bars.
Well, this blog may be archived, but I’m not sure about his blog that may be cached by archive servers, or something.
As I performed a search via Google, no results to his archived site rung up, it just shows all of the leftovers of these broken links on search results pages.
However; I did found a forum mentioning about this blog written by a sex offender!
